Discuss: Affordable Housing Downtown

Many new housing units have been added to the Downtown/Center City area since the adoption of Legacy. Many of these units are not affordable to low- and middle-income households.

How do we encourage the development of more affordable housing downtown?

1. Most of these projects are new units... so the more affordable units that existed before are still here and still affordable. So I do not really see much of a problem.

2. I think it will correct itself... i think that developers will see on their own that luxury units that sit around waiting for empty nesters is one path... but smaller cheaper units for young professional is an alternate path offering quick profitable turn arounds.

I would put money on the next project pricing units in the $125-200 range. instead of the $400k range as with OPV.
