Tourism Multiplies Business

Trade Street, Winston-Salem
In 2010 a new downtown ballpark, BB&T Ballpark, was open for minor league baseball in the Carolina League. The ballpark has been successful bringing people in to downtown Winston-Salem to enjoy amenities such as new restaurants and the growing Arts District. The region has also had a boost from wine production. The 1.4 million-acre Yadkin Valley, just west of Winston-Salem, is home to many vineyards and was approved as North Carolina's first American Viticultural Area (AVA). The new Agricultural Tourism designation adopted by the County is giving rural land owners a new way to preserve rural areas while making a living off their land.
